In an interview with ZDF, infectiologist Prof. Matthias Schrappe, University of Cologne, former Deputy Chairman of the German Advisory Council on Health, clearly criticizes the RKI’s inadequate number base and calls for a rethink of the corona strategy.
The Robert Koch Institute, which is politically controlled by the Ministry of Health, does not even use the standard repertoire of epidemiology to determine daily infection figures. “We need numbers. We are in the field of speculation. Basic rights are being restricted without us actually having any precisely usable figures, and I think it is absurd, as a scientist but, I say it openly, also as a citizen, that we proceed to such restrictions without a fixed basis of figures, and above all because there are tried and tested methods that are known everywhere, that everyone who has worked in epidemiology and infectiology knows, that are part of the standard repertoire, and our group of authors is not without reason behind demanding this again and again,” says Prof. Schrappe.
A group of scientists led by Prof. Schrappe has accompanied the corona and lockdown crisis from the very beginning with critical thesis papers. Thesis paper 6.0 entitled The Pandemic caused by SARS-CoV-2/CoViD-19 – On the Need for a Change of Strategy – is dated November 22, 2020.
